Armory Square Grand Opening — A Community Celebration Built for You

Welcome to Armory Square Community Celebration poster. Features fall leaves, text details event date: Nov. 22, 2025, 12-2 PM.

Armory Square is ready to welcome you home. On Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 12:00–2:00 PM, MCB Real Estate and the VVS Events team are celebrating the delivery of this completed center to the community with a premium, turnkey grand opening experience designed for all ages. Think: a check-in that feels like a concierge, activities curated to spark joy, and meaningful moments that bring neighbors, merchants, and local leaders together in one festive afternoon.

Nestled at 429 Solomons Island Rd N, Prince Frederick, MD 20678, Armory Square will come to life with music, crafts, cookies, and community spirit—topped off with a classic ribbon cutting and a high-energy marching band moment. It’s free to attend, open to the public, and filled with ways to explore new merchants while enjoying family-friendly fun.

Highlights of the Day

  • Seamless check-in and instant fun: Start at Guest Services to receive your Merchant Passport and event wristband. Spin the prize wheel for a themed pencil or candy-inspired sticker sheet—instant smiles for little ones and the young at heart. As you wander, collect passport stamps at each participating merchant’s table. Completed passports can be entered into a raffle for gift cards from Armory Square merchants, with the giveaway drawing at 1:45 PM to keep the excitement going.

  • Merchant discovery, the memorable way: Every participating merchant will host a marketing table with samples and giveaways. The Passport adds a playful purpose to your browsing; each stamp becomes a small victory as you discover new go-tos for dining, shopping, and everyday services.

  • Make-and-take creativity: Michaels Craft Corner adds a hands-on experience right outside the store. Kids can settle in for a simple, seasonal craft and leave with a keepsake. Expect cheerful helpers, colorful supplies, and plenty of “Look what I made!” moments.

  • Live entertainment to set the tone: DJ Lenny will keep the day moving with upbeat tracks and community shout-outs, while a talented face painter and balloon artist will transform the plaza into a pop-up wonderland. A roaming group of local carolers will add a festive soundtrack as you explore.

  • Signature ceremony: The traditional ribbon cutting with county officials will feature remarks from ownership and local leadership. As the ribbon falls, the high school marching band will strike up a celebratory tune—a goosebump moment that marks a new chapter for Prince Frederick.

  • Sweet community competition: The Community Holiday Cookie Competition invites 10 kid bakers to submit their best batch to be judged by local teachers. The top three bakers will receive prizes, and our teacher judges will receive a donation toward classroom supplies—because the best traditions are delicious and do good.

  • Local pride on display: Look for special appearances by a high school band or choir, roaming carolers, Scout-led snack tables, and local empowering nonprofits sharing their missions. It’s a great way to meet the organizations that strengthen our town.

Why It Matters

Armory Square isn’t just a shopping center—it’s a new gathering place for Prince Frederick. During planning, a parent told us, “We’ve driven past construction for months. My kids keep asking, ‘Is it open yet?’ Now we finally get to see what’s inside—and celebrate together.” That’s the heart of this event: welcoming families, supporting merchants, and creating a shared moment of pride.

Community-driven placemaking is the engine of local prosperity. Events like this boost foot traffic for small businesses, introduce neighbors to new resources, and keep spending close to home. Prince Frederick serves as a hub for Calvert County, drawing families, professionals, and small business owners from across the region. If you’re searching for Northern Virginia fall events or planning an Alexandria family festival day trip, consider this a scenic, easy weekend outing just beyond the Beltway—complete with free activities and meaningful community connections.
