Anyone who has taken young children to see Santa knows the drill: the excitement, the outfits, and inevitably, the dreaded waiting line. At VVS Events, we believe the guest experience starts the moment a family arrives—not just when they reach the front of the queue.
For our "Photos with Santa" event at Towers Shopping Center, we set out to transform the typical holiday photo op into a comprehensive, interactive festival. The goal was simple: keep the energy high, the lines moving, and the smiles genuine. The result? A record turnout of 1,200 attendees and over 3,000 onsite impressions, proving that a little creativity goes a long way in retail marketing.
Reimagining the Arrival Experience
We knew excitement was high when families started lining up at 10:30 AM for a noon start time. Instead of sticking rigidly to the schedule, we made a game-time decision to bring Santa and Mrs. Claus out at 11:30 AM. This early start immediately eased congestion and set a tone of hospitality right from the jump.

Our "Guest Services Event Check-In" skipped the wristbands to keep the flow seamless. We focused on a warm welcome that moved guests efficiently toward the main attraction while introducing them to the day's activities.
Turning Wait Time into Play Time
The biggest challenge with high-traffic holiday events is managing the crowd's patience. We tackled this by turning the line into an activation zone.
Creative Distractions for All Ages
We set up a "Creation Station" featuring brick gingerbread houses. This was a massive hit, keeping little hands busy building while parents managed their spot in line. But we didn't stop at the kids. We introduced a "Holiday Bead-able Pens & Keychains" station, which surprisingly became the fan favorite among adults. Guests loved customizing their own keepsakes, with supplies for 400 people running out due to high demand.

The Sweetest Spot
No holiday event is complete without treats. Our cookie decorating station featured 500 cookies ready for frosting and sprinkles. It served as a perfect mid-event energy boost and a fun, edible craft that kept the festive spirit alive.
More Than Just a Photo

The centerpiece was, of course, the professional photography experience. We ensured every family walked away with an immediate memory—a 4x6 custom-branded print in a white photo folder.
To keep the atmosphere lively, we introduced "Holiday Bingo" for families waiting in line. With an MC calling numbers and handing out prizes, we effectively gamified the wait. It kept guests present, engaged, and entertained, turning what could have been a boring standby into a community bonding moment.

Driving Tenant Engagement
Community events are powerful tools for driving commerce. We partnered with tenants like YAMAMA & Lil’ Yogis and Massage Envy to integrate them into the event footprint. They offered coupons, branded items, and gift card promotions, successfully driving traffic from the event space directly into their storefronts. One parent noted, “I had no idea YAMAMA Kids Yoga was here—now I’m obsessed. We stopped by their table while we were waiting and ended up signing up for more info.”

Measuring the Joy
The success of an event lies in the feedback of the guests. We heard time and again that the organization and activities made the day special.
One attendee shared, “This was such a smooth, well-run event—everything felt organized, festive, and easy. The Santa photos were the best part of our day, and we didn’t feel stuck waiting forever.”
Another parent added, “I came for the kids, but I’m not gonna lie… I LOVED the crafts. The cookie decorating and the custom pens were so fun—this was the kind of holiday event that actually keeps everyone engaged.”
