Community events are the secret ingredient to breathing life into a retail center. When properties find authentic ways to bring people together, everyone wins. Families create lasting memories, and tenants see a meaningful boost in visibility and foot traffic.
Recently, we partnered with Rappaport to host an unforgettable Easter Egg Hunt at Dillingham Square. Despite a chilly and windy forecast, the community showed up in full force. The activation was designed from the ground up to seamlessly blend family entertainment with strategic retail engagement.
If you manage a commercial property or direct marketing for a retail destination, you know exactly how challenging it can be to bridge the gap between tenants and the local community. We want to take you behind the scenes of this activation. We will show you how thoughtful programming, engaging activities, and seamless execution turned a standard Saturday into a major win for Dillingham Square.
The Strategy Behind the Celebration
The goal of this activation was simple but highly impactful: drive foot traffic to local businesses while providing a premium, memorable experience for families. We knew that just putting a bunny in a chair wouldn't be enough to create a lasting connection between the community and the property.

To achieve our goals, we implemented a Guest Services and Merchant Stamp Hunt Passport system. The first 200 guests to check in received a complimentary branded bag, while 150 children received a special Stamp Hunt Card. To complete their cards and win a special prize box, families had to visit specific locations throughout the property, naturally guiding them to interact with local merchants.
Activating the Retail Footprint
Water's End Brewery served as our vibrant gathering hub. From there, families dispersed across the property, visiting diverse tenants from Paisanos and Dairy Queen to Gold Fish Swim School and A-1 Cycling. By strategically placing 250 eggs at participating storefronts, we ensured that the foot traffic was evenly distributed.
The results spoke for themselves. One merchant shared, "The turnout was amazing; we ran out of eggs. Thank you for letting us be a part of this event; it was fun and a great chance to talk to parents about our business."

Programming That Captivates
An exceptional event requires more than just a good map; it requires engaging experiences at every turn. We designed the programming to capture the attention of children aged 2 to 12, giving parents a fun, stress-free afternoon.
Highlights from the Day

Mr. Bunny Photos: Hosted at Water's End Brewery, families loved the high-quality photo opportunities. One parent noted, "We come to this event every year! The pictures we get with your bunny are better than what we get at the mall."

Live Entertainment: A live DJ spun family-friendly hits, keeping the energy high across the plaza despite the windy weather.

Interactive Stations: Two talented balloon artists created custom designs, while a special tattoo station at Guest Services offered fun, spring-themed temporary tattoos for the kids.
