Good Kid-izen Events 2025: Bringing Community and Joy to Howard County

The 2025 Good Kidizens summer series at Color Burst Park was a heartwarming success, uniting families and supporting local businesses through seven unique, community-focused events. From Grammy-winning performances to young entrepreneurs showcasing their creativity, each celebration offered something special for Howard County families.

A Summer to Remember: Event Highlights

Running from June to September, the Good Kidizens series delivered themed events designed to educate, entertain, and inspire. Here’s a quick look at how each celebration brought joy to the community:

June 14: Share a Song 🎵

The series kicked off with a lively performance by 123 Andrés, combining music, Spanish lessons, and Latin dance moves. Families joined in a spontaneous conga line, setting the tone for an unforgettable summer.

  • Attendance: 600 families

  • Highlight: DIY guitar craft station

August 9: Community Heroes 🦸‍♀️

Families explored fire trucks, ambulances, and police cars while meeting the real-life heroes who serve their community.

  • Attendance: 150 families

  • Partners: Howard County Fire & Safety, Police, and Animal Control

June 28: Kind Kidizen

This event celebrated diversity with kindness activities that encouraged families to appreciate the uniqueness of their community.

August 23: Garden Guardians 🌱

Kids potted plants to take home, spreading greenery and beauty throughout the neighborhood.

July 12: Bike with a Cop 🚲

In partnership with the Howard County Police Department, children enjoyed guided bike rides through Symphony Woods.

  • Attendance: 400 families

  • Special Feature: Free bike tune-ups from Patapsco Bikes

September 6: Children's Business Fair 💼

The series ended with a showcase of 10 young entrepreneurs, inspiring families with creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.

  • Attendance: 125 families

  • Featured Businesses: Cassidy's Creations, Suds Soap, and more!

July 26: Science Rocks! 🔬

Rocket Reba wowed young minds with hands-on science experiments that turned learning into pure fun.
