South Riding Summer Fest: Event Recap
On July 19, South Riding Market Square transformed into the community's favorite summer destination. Summer Fest, presented by Rappaport, brought families out for an afternoon of games, giveaways, and hands-on fun—and VVS Events & Marketing was there to plan, staff, and run every moment of it.
This annual celebration is a cornerstone event for the South Riding community, and this year's activation once again proved why turnkey event management matters: a packed schedule, seamless logistics, and a shopping center full of engaged guests.
The Activations That Kept Guests Moving
Guest Services & Center-Wide Treasure Hunt: Guests collected maps at Guest Services and explored the center to visit participating merchants like AT&T, Foster's Grille, Tropical Smoothie, and Fit Right Kids' Shoes. Completed maps earned a treasure box and raffle ticket, keeping the whole family engaged from store to store.
Summer Raffle: Held four times throughout the afternoon, the raffle drew guests back to the check-in area between activities, extending time spent on-property.
Foam Party & Dual Slide Bounce House: Two of the day's most popular stops, drawing steady lines throughout the event.
Face Painting, Temporary Tattoo Parlor, and Live DJ: These stations added personality and energy to the day, with the tattoo parlor hosted in partnership with Celebree School.
Food & Treat Vendors: Good Guys Ice Cream Cart and tenant partners like Sense of Thai added flavor—literally—to the celebration.
Artisan Vendor Market & Gaming Truck: Rounding out the lineup, these activations gave guests even more reasons to linger.
The Value Behind the Fun
What made this event a win for Rappaport and South Riding Market Square wasn't just the turnout—it was the tenant participation. More than a dozen merchants and outside businesses opted into the scavenger hunt and event-day specials, from AT&T to TopKick Martial Arts to Passanante's Home Food Service. That level of buy-in reflects a shopping center where tenants see real value in community events, and it's exactly the kind of engagement that turns foot traffic into loyal customers.
