Chalk It Up to Fun and Creativity at Downtown Silver Spring’s DSS Chalk Fest 🎨

The streets of Downtown Silver Spring were alive with color, creativity, and community fun during the DSS Chalk Fest this past weekend. Hosted on May 10th, 2025, at 933 Ellsworth Drive, this vibrant event turned Silver Spring into a temporary art gallery, bringing together families, local businesses, and art enthusiasts for a truly unforgettable celebration.

Event Highlights ✨

The DSS Chalk Fest was an event to remember, filled with activities and attractions that drew in crowds of all ages:

• Creative Vibes: Attendees of all skill levels turned sidewalks into colorful masterpieces with chalk in hand. From children experimenting with doodles to adults showcasing their artistic talents, the day was a visual treat.

• Live Entertainment: DJ Flight kept the energy high throughout the day with an upbeat mix that had participants dancing as they created.

• Exciting Giveaways: Visitors who spent over $100 at participating local businesses walked away with gift cards, including the highly popular Nike gift cards. One lucky family even won a $100 gift card for Dog Haus Party and four Regal Majestic movie tickets worth $150!

• Seamless Engagement: Around 150 attendees registered on-site via QR codes placed strategically across the venue, ensuring they didn’t miss out on upcoming events.

Despite weather that alternated between sunny and cloudy, the mid-70s temperatures set the perfect tone for a fun-filled day.

The Chalk Fest brought together local families, with children aged 2-16 making up most of the participants. A typical group included families of three or four, with many parents and guardians cheering on their young artists.

Some attendees stumbled upon the event while shopping or strolling through the downtown area and were pleasantly surprised. Several left heartwarming feedback, including:

To further boost participation in future events, expanding promotional efforts and solidifying commitments from all participating merchants will be key.
