What happens when you mix a chilly October night, thousands of costumes, and a whole lot of community spirit? You get the Merriweather Monster Mash! On Friday, October 24th, we helped our partners at Howard Hughes transform Color Burst Park into a high-energy Halloween destination that drew an incredible crowd of over 5,000 people in just two hours.

The energy was electric. From the moment guests arrived, they were greeted with music, laughter, and the unmistakable buzz of a community coming together. This wasn't just another trick-or-treat event; it was a full-blown celebration that lit up the Merriweather District and left everyone with unforgettable memories.

What Made the Night So Magical?

Our goal was to create a seamless, engaging experience for families and highlight the vibrant businesses that make the Merriweather District special. We designed a series of creative activations to ensure there was something for everyone to enjoy.

A Sweet Start to the Evening

Guests kicked off the festivities at the check-in station, where the first 900 attendees received a free Merriweather District trick-or-treat tote. These weren't empty bags, either! They came stuffed with pencils, stickers, and delicious caramel apple lollipops to get the night started on a sweet note.

The Ultimate Candy Crawl

The Premium Candy Crawl was a huge hit, uniting 22 participating merchants for an epic trick-or-treating adventure. Businesses like Eggspectation, The Charmery, and Busboys and Poets set up tables outside their storefronts, creating a lively block party atmosphere. We supplied starter candy to each merchant, ensuring they were ready for the massive turnout and could connect with thousands of potential new customers.

Interactive Fun for All Ages

The interactive zones kept the energy high all night. Kids and parents alike were thrilled to navigate the giant Pumpkin Patch Maze, where the first 500 children chose their own pumpkin to decorate. At the decorating station, creativity flowed as pumpkins were transformed into spooky works of art with foam faces, stickers, and paint pens. Once the pumpkins ran out, guests transitioned to making cheerful Pumpkin Glasses and Scarecrow Portraits.

An Electric Atmosphere

No party is complete without great music. DJ Lenny kept the beats pumping while Emcee Wild Kat hyped up the crowd from the LED dance floor. The highlight of the night was the Group Costume Contest, where families and friends showed off their creative outfits. The winner was chosen by the "people's choice," measured by how loud the crowd would howl—and they did not disappoint!

To make sure the memories would last, we set up two dazzling photo opportunities. The "Spooky" and "BOO" installations, complete with haybales, festive decor, and giant marquee letters, were buzzing with people capturing their amazing costumes. To top it all off, three Glitter/Airbrush Tattoo Artists gave guests a sparkling souvenir to remember the night.
