On Friday, October 17th, the Mt. Airy Shopping Center transformed into the ultimate Halloween hotspot. From 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the walkways were filled with creative costumes, infectious energy, and families ready for a safe, sweet night out.

Events like these are about more than just candy—they are about building community and driving genuine engagement for our retail partners. With over 2,250 onsite impressions and 450 enthusiastic attendees, this year's Trick or Treat was a glowing example of how experiential marketing brings a property to life.

A Night of Glowing Reviews (Literally)

The excitement kicked off at the Guest Services tent, where families lined up early to register. Every registered "little monster" received a signature trick-or-treat bag and a Mt. Airy glow-in-the-dark cup. As the sun set, these cups created a literal sea of green moving across the shopping center, offering a fantastic visual representation of the event's reach.

But the visuals didn't stop there. Our custom Fall Photo Backdrop gave families a perfect activity while waiting in line, resulting in countless shareable moments on social media. One parent told us, "The Fall Photo Op was a lot of fun! We got the best family picture of the night. Such a simple but perfect way to capture the costumes!"

The Premium Candy Crawl: Tenant Engagement Wins

The heart of the event was the Premium Candy Crawl. We saw incredible participation from our merchants, with up to 40 businesses displaying "Candy Here" signs on their doors. This wasn't just about foot traffic; it was about connecting customers directly with brands.

From national favorites like Chipotle, Dominos, and Walmart to specialized spots like Warhammer and Mathnasium, every corner of the center was buzzing. We also want to shout out partners like ATI Physical Therapy, Celebree Schools, and Pet Supplies Plus for bringing the Halloween spirit. Seeing tenants actively engaged—and seeing the increased door swings—is exactly why we love producing these activations.

Interactive Fun: More Than Just Sweets

To keep families engaged for the full two hours, we curated entertainment that went beyond the standard trick-or-treating experience.

The Monster Mash Dance Party

Our live DJ kept the energy high with uptempo, family-friendly tracks. The "Monster Mash Freeze Dance" was a huge hit, with kids freezing in their tracks for a chance to win candy necklace prizes. It turned the sidewalk into a party and kept the vibe upbeat.

Creative Corners

The Jibbitz BOO-tique was swarmed all night. Kids loved designing their own custom takeaways, receiving a silicone bracelet and choosing four charms to personalize it. It was a high-value engagement point that kept the fun flowing.

Additionally, our balloon artist was an absolute MVP. Despite long lines, they worked quickly to deliver cheerful, custom designs. As one attendee noted, "A massive shoutout to the Balloon Artist! That line was long, but they worked so fast and still made amazing things. My daughter hasn't put down her pink poodle."

Building Community, One Event at a Time

The 2025 Mt. Airy Trick or Treat was a masterclass in community activation. By combining interactive entertainment, tenant involvement, and seamless logistics, we created a safe and memorable environment for hundreds of local families.
