Movie Nights Brought Fair Lakes League Together Under the Stars

Events & Marketing partnered with Fair Lakes League and Peterson to launch Movie Nights, a free, family-friendly outdoor movie series in Fairfax, VA. The June 13 kickoff featured a 32-foot inflatable screen, fresh popcorn, candy concessions, pre-movie games, and a screening of Zootopia 2—setting the stage for two more community screenings this summer.

Community activations don't need to be complicated to leave a lasting impression.

Sometimes all it takes is a big screen, a bag of popcorn, and a warm summer evening. That's exactly the formula VVS Events & Marketing brought to life for Fair Lakes League and Peterson at the inaugural Movie Nights event on June 13, 2026.

Designed as a free, family-friendly experience, Movie Nights gave the Fairfax community a reason to gather, unwind, and connect—all compliments of Fair Lakes League and Peterson.

What made the evening special?

The event kicked off well before sunset, with pre-movie music and interactive games setting the tone. Guests jumped into a lively round of Freeze Improv, followed by 20 rounds of Zootopia-themed movie trivia, complete with prizes for correct answers. It's the kind of energy that turns a simple outdoor screening into a full community event.

Once the sun dipped low, guests settled in for the main attraction: a 32-foot inflatable movie screen paired with premium A/V, playing Zootopia 2 under a clear summer sky.

How did VVS keep guests engaged before showtime?

Beyond the movie itself, VVS built out several activation zones to keep guests of all ages entertained:

  • Fresh Popped Popcorn: The first 250 guests enjoyed freshly popped popcorn, made onsite and served right up until the movie began.

  • Candy Concessions: The first 200 guests received a complimentary treat from a curated candy selection.

  • Chalk Zone: A creative outlet for younger attendees to doodle and play while waiting for the show.

  • Photo Booth & DIY Charmed Photo Frame Decorating: A hands-on keepsake activity that let families create a memory to take home.

  • Dirty Soda Bar: A fun, customizable beverage station that added a playful twist to the concession lineup.

  • Raffle Prizes: Courtesy of Fair Lakes League, giving guests one more reason to stick around until the credits rolled.

Why does an event like this matter for Fair Lakes League and Peterson?

Outdoor movie nights are more than entertainment—they're a proven way to drive consistent foot traffic and build long-term community goodwill for a property. By offering a free, recurring experience, Fair Lakes League and Peterson positioned themselves as a go-to summer destination rather than a one-time event stop.

This is just the beginning of the series. Guests can look forward to Cars on July 11 and Hoppers on August 8, the latter featuring a Glow Pajama Party theme complete with LED glow décor, a themed photo booth, and a special appearance from the Fairfax Police Department's Community Outreach team.

What's next for the Movie Nights series?

With two more screenings on the calendar, Fair Lakes League and Peterson have set the tone for a summer-long community tradition. Each installment builds on the last, layering in new themes, activations, and guest experiences to keep attendance strong and engagement high.

If your property is ready to create this kind of buzz, VVS Events & Marketing can bring the same turnkey execution—from planning through cleanup—to your next community activation.
